INTO Hofstra Virtual Celebration – Creative Talent Showcase
At a virtual end-of-semester celebration, international students in INTO Hofstra showcased their creative works, which included a range of projects like presentations, videos, drawings, and storytelling. Since its founding in 2019, INTO has supported international students by providing them with English language instruction and academic and cultural resources to help them thrive in the United States.
The eight presentations explored diverse and thoughtful topics, from the changing role of women in Saudi Arabia to Russian culture, the history of Chinese women, and the works of Pablo Picasso, along with the legacies of composer Ludwig van Beethoven and mathematician Terence Chi-Shen Tao. Dr. Hanaa Wahba, the program director, noted that these “Create to Communicate Projects” encourage students to express themselves through various art forms.
The winners were:
- First Place: Hana Aloh (Saudi Arabia) for her PowerPoint and video about the evolving role of women in her country.
- Second Place: Saradiba Hossain (Bangladesh) for her vibrant acrylic paintings with an environmental theme.
- Third Place: Timur Syzdykov (Turkey) for a video he produced on Pablo Picasso.
All participants, including Chewin Zhi, Ivan Matsov, Shuaixian Yao, Han Zhao, and Ruolan (Roxanne) Wu, were awarded certificates for completing the Project-Based Learning workshop.
